We are at my MIL's tonight. Dell went to Lake Powell today and will end up here, so we are too. We miss daddy too much.
Today was chore day...as usual the girls made it an all day affair. I don't know why they have to dawdle so. I told them after the chores were done today that next time if they got their chores done in like an hour we could do something fun. Hopefully that will work. I guess coming to Grandma's is fun too. Even though it took them 5 hours to do 1 hours worth of chores...oh well, they are still learning right? It took so long for the little girls to do their bedroom that I came in with a garbage bag and started putting things in it, telling them they were going in the garbage (they aren't really, but they can think that for a while). Mychigan was crying and asking me not to put them in the garbage, but Daisy....she started helping me put things in the bag! I was shocked, so I asked her "Do you care if your toys get thrown away?" She looked at me and shook her head no. So I said "OK, I will put a call in to Santa and tell him not to bother bringing anything for you on Christmas and you can just watch your sisters open presents while you sit on the couch, OK?" She nodded. ?!?!? What? You really don't care? So I asked her why she doesn't like toys, she said "I do like toys" So I asked why she was saying she didn't care, and she said she didn't know. Oh my, she is baffling sometimes! It was baffling just to have her so calmly and nonchalantly shrug and nod and shake her head to my questions. She finally got upset when I put her balloon in the "garbage" bag. Seriously? A balloon? Nothing else is going to get any emotion out of you? Really? Wow, I'm speechless and that's unusual. With my kids anyway.
Remember to turn your clocks back, everyone with daylight savings. It's tonight!

Oh my heck! I seriously started laughing so hard at the garbage bag! I have done that several times, and it has been quite the drama. I actually had to read your post to my hubby, because it sounded so much like our house.
ahhh...I love your posts...keep em coming!!
Tami
I have done the garbage bag thing too! & honestly one time, I found that stupid garbage bag in the basement MONTHS later! So, I went thru it & took it to DI. How funny. They obviously didn't care about or miss the stupid HUGE bag of toys. I only saved 1 thing from the bag when I went thru it.
My kids also take 5 hours to do 1 hours worth of chores. I wish I knew why!
How funny! - Kate
I take five hours to one hours worth of work too sometimes. I totally stink at house work. I get so dang distracted! Maybe I should put some of my stuff in a garbage bag. Actually that's a pretty good idea...
Oh, it's soo good to hear I'm not the only one who does that! And DI is a good idea...BEFORE Christmas!
And Cec, I totally suck too, especially since Ryver was born. I just don't wanna do it!
Ok Steph. It sounds like YOU need to get on over to Cec's house and do a smackdown on the chores. Take the garbage bag and put all her diet coke in it until she gets the chores done.
I have to physically follow my kids around for chores to get finished. I signed up for the housefairy program (housefairy.org) 6 mos ago, but didn't stay consistent. It worked really well! I think if i'd stayed consistent, the kids would've really caught on and done their jobs lickity-split. In fact, just babbling about it on your comments makes me think I'll start over. It's really neat! We should start it together; especially if your kids are pretty little (8 & under). Go check it out! We could be each other's support.
Crystal you always make me laugh! I SHOULD go over to Cecily's! She should be scared!
I will check out housefairy.org, I have no idea what it's about but if it helps my kids do their chores, I'm all about it! Thanks for the tip!
